Outreach Program/ Community based Learning
Community-Based Learning is a cornerstone of the educational philosophy at Rehman College of Rehabilitation Sciences (RCRS). Recognizing that healthcare extends beyond hospital walls, the college actively integrates community engagement into academic and clinical training to develop socially responsible rehabilitation professionals capable of addressing diverse healthcare needs.
Students are provided with structured opportunities to engage with communities through outreach initiatives, health promotion activities, screening programs, awareness campaigns, and supervised field experiences. These experiences enable students to appreciate the social determinants of health while strengthening their understanding of preventive care, rehabilitation, disability management, and community wellbeing.
A distinguishing feature of the RCRS educational model is its extensive outreach network involving primary healthcare centers, schools, industries, and community-based organizations. Students gain firsthand exposure to diverse population groups and healthcare challenges, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings while developing empathy, professionalism, leadership, and communication skills.
RCRS further extends its impact through clinical outreach services at Category-D Hospitals of Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) located in Jamrud, Gara Tajik, and Nahaqi. These facilities provide valuable learning environments where students participate in supervised clinical rotations and contribute to the delivery of rehabilitation services for underserved populations. Such placements expose students to rural and semi-urban healthcare settings, broadening their clinical perspectives and enhancing their adaptability as future healthcare practitioners.
The college also organizes free rehabilitation camps, community awareness initiatives, and public health activities that encourage active student participation and service learning. Through these engagements, students develop practical competencies while contributing meaningfully to community health improvement.
