Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)

RCRS offers a five-year degree program, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) which provides the required education and training necessary for graduates to embark on a professional career in physical therapy. The degree embodies a strong foundational background in the biological, kinesiological and behavioral sciences and is classified as a level 6 qualification according to National Qualification Framework (NQF) of Pakistan.

Course Description

We at Rehman College of Rehabilitation Sciences are dedicated to a student centered programme that promotes academic excellence through enriched curriculum, in line with curriculum of Khyber Medical University that is approved by the national curriculum review committee of HEC.
The DPT programme has contextual foundational background in biological, biomechanical and psychological sciences that are assimilated in logical and scientific manner. The clinical rotation in Rehman College of Rehabilitation Sciences is scheduled in the advanced years of the degree which provides valuable clinical exposure and experience to DPT students. RCRS is known to provide state of the art clinical facilities in Pakistan.

Scope

Physical therapists are movement scientists who improve the quality of life through prescribed exercise, hand- on care and patient education. They help people to improve their ability to move, manage pain, restore function, prevent disability, achieve fitness goals and lead an independent active life.
Additionally, Physical Therapists operate as an independent practitioner, as well as members of the health care team with strong organizational and communication skills. The scope of physical therapy practice is dynamic and continuously evolving. It is not limited to direct patient
care, but also includes community services, public health planning, administration, teaching, policy making, and curriculum development.

Admission

Institutional Admission Committee

The institutional admission committee align the admission process with the institute rules and regulations. It streamlines the admission activities and notify the seats availability, fee structure and admission dates.

Process

  1. RCRS admits students annually from all over Pakistan. The admissions are based on merit and open to all eligible candidates with no discrimination towards their ethnicity, race, religion, or domicile. The candidates apply on prescribed online system for the RCRS Programs.
  2. The applications through online portal of the college shall be accepted for scrutiny and merit formulation.
  3. All eligible applicants must appear in the interview. Students are required to bring their original academic certificates and documents at the time of their scheduled interviews.
  4. The applicants shall be bound to provide the following documents once selected:
    i. SSC / IBCC Certificate
    ii. HSSC / IBCC Certificate
    iii. Domicile Certificate
    iv. CNIC / Form ‘B’ of Applicant and Father
    v. Passport Size Photograph
  5. It is the responsibility of all applicants to visit the college website https://rcrs.rmi.edu.pk for updated information.
  6. Communication to the applicants will be strictly through text message / email address provided by the applicant.
  7. Admission offer will remain conditional subject to verification of documents, medical fitness, fee deposit, and other conditions (as described in Admission Offer Letter) within the stipulated period.
  8. All admitted students and their parent/guardian will be required to submit an affidavit on a Rs. 100/- stamp paper duly notarized by a notary, stating the acceptance of RCRS required disciplinary, legal, financial responsibilities and all other rules and regulations.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate seeking admission in Rehman College of Rehabilitation Sciences (RCRS)

  • Applicants who have passed HSSC or equivalent qualification and holding Pakistani CNIC/ Form-B / Authenticated International Resident status (as per policy).
  • Applicants must have passed HSSC (Pre-medical) with at least 60% marks or equivalent (as per policy).
  • Applicants who have taken A-level exams / other equivalent exams, must submit an equivalence certificate from the Inter Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC) Islamabad or Regional Offices with the application form.
  • Admission / Eligibility criteria may change subject to the regulatory authority policy as and when notified.

Merit Weightage

  • Higher Secondary School
  • Certificate or Equivalent: 50%
  • KMU-CAT: 40%
  • Interview: 10%

Merit List

  • The admission to DPT/ SLP programs in RCRS shall be made strictly based on merit.
  • It is mandatory to appear in the interview to be included in the merit list.
  • In case final merit of more than one candidate is equal up to four decimals, the candidate older in age shall stand higher in merit.
  • After the display of final merit list, if there is any vacant seat, next student on merit in the waiting list will be offered admission against such vacant seat.

  • Regulatory Authorities directives regarding admissions 2023 – 24 issued from time to time will be followed
  • A strict NO DONATION POLICY is adopted. No one, except the office of admissions, is authorized to give a written admission offer
  • Fee for more than one (1) Semester will not be demanded.
  • All fees will be deposited in the official College designated bank account.
  • SCHOLARSHIPS: As per institutions’ past practices, scholarship will be offered as per policy notified from time to time
